My name is Jordan Mathews, and I’m from Tampa, Florida, which is home to the world’s longest sidewalk, as well as my amazing family. I discovered my love of design in high school, which inspired me to attend the School of Media and Journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill so I could pursue my passion at one of the best creative programs in the country.
Since then, I’ve been on a mission to continue learning about design thinking and its ability to solve complex problems. With the help of some great mentors, countless books, and a decent amount of trial and error, I’ve developed my design skills a lot over the past 6 years. Yet, I can’t wait to keep learning more skills and continue working at being a better designer.

As a member of the in-house creative team, I work with various departments across the company to develop seasonal advertising campaigns. These campaigns have consisted of billboards in Times Square, full-page ads in Esquire magazine, and a photo shoot where we flew real customers from around the country to Chicago so they could tell us their story. In between campaigns I established a team-wide system to streamline the creative process of one of the company’s largest marketing initiatives, Featured Trunks.

Since graduating from college, I’ve worked with several companies to design logos, websites, and various digital experiences. From a restaurant logo in Greensboro North Carolina to a fully customized online order form for a company in Tampa, Florida, I’ve used design to help people solve complex problems and better their businesses. As the son of two small business owners, I have always valued entrepreneurship and admired people with the determination to pursue their own ventures.

As stated on their website, BrightHouse “helps organizations uncover their timeless purpose — the reason they exist — so they can grow their people, profits, and social impact.” Assigned to the 7 Up account, I was tasked with bringing the company’s new purpose statement to life through a video, which is now an integral part of the company’s corporate culture. I worked with consultants and copywriters to ensure this video aligned with 7 Up’s corporate values and would serve as a motivational guide for both new and tenured 7 Up employees.
